Velo3D, Inc. has announced its Sapphire family of 3D printers are the first to achieve the U.S. Department of Defense’s (DoD) Green-level STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) Compliance. Hard work and good help can pay off, two young engineers have learned. Velo3D, Inc. has announced Visser Precision, a contract manufacturer serving major industries from the racetrack to outer space, has purchased and received two Sapphire printers to expand its 3D-printing capabilities for its aerospace customers. One of the printers delivered is the first Sapphire printer calibrated for Haynes 214 (UNS N07214), a nickel-based superalloy that is now available as a powder option for all Velo3D customers. The other Sapphire printer is calibrated for Inconel 718, which is commonly used in many aerospace and industrial applications for its high strength and corrosion resistance.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has confirmed his personal attendance at the world’s leading industrial trade fair and will speak at the opening ceremony in April. In addition, together with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, he will also take part in the traditional chancellor’s tour the next day – opening day Monday – at the fair. The last time these two heads of government met was at the G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, in November 2022.

Velo3D, Inc. has announced Vertex Manufacturing (a subsidiary of PrinterPrezz) has ordered two new Sapphire XC printers to complement its existing fleet and meet the demands of its customers. The large-format Sapphire printers will help Vertex offer production capabilities at scale, are calibrated for Inconel 718 and GRCop-42, and will be capable of printing parts 600 mm in diameter and 550 mm in height.
Stratasys Ltd. recently announced availability of 13 new Validated materials for the Fortus 450mc 3D printer, as well as SAF PA12 powder from new materials partner ALM for the H350 3D printer powered by SAF technology. The OpenAM software, including an open material license, is also now available for the Fortus 450mc printer, enabling printing with exploratory open materials.
Velo3D, Inc. has announced Hermeus, a company developing hypersonic aircraft for defense and commercial applications, has acquired an original Sapphire and a large-format Sapphire XC that is designed for high-volume production. The printers, both of which will be calibrated for Inconel 718, will be used to build parts for Hermeus’ Chimera engine and Quarterhorse aircraft.

The partnership makes Hartech Group a preferred distributor for the federal government for Velo3D. With Sinumerik One, the first digital native CNC for machine tools, Siemens works with software to create the machine controller and the associated Digital Twin from one engineering system seamlessly. The latest iteration of the CNC system was on display recently at Automate 2022 in Detroit where machine tool builders and CNC users were able to witness the product, production, and performance benefits on the show floor.
