Sara Zimmerman Announced as the Inaugural Chair of the Motion and Power Manufacturers Alliance

At the recently held AGMA/ABMA Annual Meeting, Sara Zimmerman, Vice President of Customer Experience and Product, Sumitomo Machinery Corporation of America, was announced as the inaugural Chair of the Motion and Power Manufacturers Alliance (MPMA). The MPMA is a newly formed organization, bringing together the strengths and legacies of the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) and the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA).

In the new role, Sara becomes the second female chair from AGMA and the first from Sumitomo to lead this esteemed body of corporate members and brings a commitment to building upon the strong foundations laid by the two 100+ year-old associations that merged to form MPMA.

“I look forward to working collaboratively with both AGMA and ABMA members who are now part of the MPMA”, said Sara Zimmerman. “At Sumitomo Machinery Corp. of America, we are deeply invested in the full power transmission industry and know the critical role gears and bearings play in the innovation we deliver.  Working together, the MPMA will expand its leadership roles in standards, education, advocacy and other important initiatives driving value for the industry.

Zimmerman has served on AGMA’s Board since 2019, was a trustee of the AGMA Foundation, served as AGMA’s treasurer from 2023, and will now serve a one-year term as Chair, then becoming Chair Emeritus for 2026.

“I have learned so much from my colleagues at AGMA, and want to especially thank outgoing Chair Michael Cinquemani, CEO of Master PT for his commitment and positivity over his two years as chair,” added Zimmerman.  “Our industry has been blessed with strong, engaging leaders, and I am both humbled and excited about continuing that legacy of giving back.”
