Voith Extends TurboBelt TPXL Coupling Family

Voith presents the new extension for the TurboBelt TPXL series of fill-controlled couplings. Apart from the already established versions for 500 kW, 800 kW and 1,250 kW, the new portfolio includes 315 kW and 2,500 kW. The new versions are based on a combination of hydrodynamics and intelligent control technology to further optimize the performance spectrum.

The increasing demand for raw materials constantly raises the demands on conveying capacity in mining. With its proven use of the hydrodynamic drive principle, the Voith TurboBelt TPXL family is specifically designed to meet these requirements. The new sizes TurboBelt 315 TPXL and TurboBelt 2500 TPXL open up an extended application spectrum.

The robust and compact design of the coupling family allows its use in challenging environments such as open-cast mining. In addition, the plug-and-play design enables easy integration into existing systems and drive trains. By utilizing a hydrodynamic operating principle, the TurboBelt TPXL ensures wear-free power transmission without mechanical connection. The exact torque control also increases the service life of the belt conveyors and ensures a continuous production process.

For an optimized start-up process and reliable conveying behavior, the turbo coupling is combined with the digital control system TurboBelt DriveControl. The digital control system ensures a seamless integration of drives, belt conveyors and system components across the entire conveying process. The intelligent system optimizes the performance of the coupling and the belt conveyor in any operating condition and enables active load distribution to several drives. With the application of Voith TurboBelt DriveControl and the existing remote access, it is possible to provide fast and easy technical assistance by means of a secure VPN connection. This results in reduced downtimes and lower maintenance costs.

With the rise of new applications and new regulatory requirements, the latest TurboBelt TPXL couplings meet the highest standards for reliable and safe operation. The entire coupling family complies with all defined requirements for equipment used in explosive areas according to EU Directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX). The TurboBelt TPXL, with the associated control unit TurboBelt DriveControl, is designed for application in categories 2 and 3. Depending on the hazardous atmosphere, for example in an operating area with gas or dust environment, the hydraulic coupling is also available in different types of protection.
