Dunn-Edwards is a manufacturer of a complete line of paints supplied to professionals throughout the United States. They recently consolidated their manufacturing operations into a new facility in Phoenix. The new automation portfolio includes an innovative, high performing robotic palletizing system utilizing an ABB IRB 660 robot. The system was designed and installed by Systems Automated of Sylmar, California. The system palletizes five-gallon drums of paint at a rate of up to 48 per minute. The features include the use of a single robot, the speed and flexibility of the system, the weight of the load (four drums at a time = 220 lbs/100 kg) being palletized and the dexterity of the gripper.
