Ticona Provides Material Alternative to Nylon-12

Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, recently announced that it is working with global automotive original equipment manufacturers and suppliers to deliver alternative material options in response to the Nylon-12 shortage. "Ticona is offering its application development expertise and high-performance thermoplastics to the global automotive industry to help resolve issues resulting from the reduced supply of Nylon, including PA-12, which are used in applications such as brake and fuel lines," said Michael Stubblefield, Ticona general manager. High-performance Hostaform/Celcon acetal copolymer (POM) and Fortron polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) are well established products. They are used extensively for fuel and other automotive components, as well as for appliance, oil and gas, and sporting goods applications.
