Power Jacks Launches New POWERAM Linear Actuators for Improved Machine Design

Power Jacks has announced the official launch of POWERAM a new electric linear actuator range designed to enable engineers to quickly and easily automate a manual system, transition to electro-mechanical linear motion from hydraulics and upgrade screw jack systems.

“It represents the latest stage in the evolution of our linear motion product offering, based on our precision actuation technology and customer demand” said Alex Crossland, managing director. “Investing in these products for your machine design comes with the reassurance that this is a proven actuator type that we have successfully used in a wide range of industry sectors.”

Key features of the POWERAM Linear Actuator range include:

Unified Design Helps Machine Builders Standardize System & Machine Design
The 3 POWERAM actuator designs of Machine Screw, Stainless Steel and Ball Screw use the same common actuator housing. This allows system builders to alter the performance of the actuator and their system while maintaining the same dimensions for the actuator.

High Corrosion Resistance with Stainless Steel Version
For linear motion in harsh environments a complete stainless-steel version is available as standard using our proven marine and subsea technology.

Easy upgrade from screw jack to POWERAM
Both POWERAM and E-Series screw jacks use the same high quality, precise and reliable worm gearbox design for each nominal capacity size, which provides designers with an easy upgrade path.

The POWERAM linear actuator range was developed from increasing customer demand for this type of actuator. Power Jacks has already successfully delivered these types of actuators into a diverse range of industries including metal processing, food and beverage, offshore wind, oil and gas, defense, sports venues, water treatment, waterways and nuclear power. The success of these products designed for specific applications led to the development of a standard range that would further benefit machinery designers.

The inclusion of a stainless-steel actuator type is an important option as recent customer research has shown that there is a growing need for electric linear actuators that can operate reliably in harsh environments. Power Jacks technology for this type of application has successfully been proven in subsea, offshore, defense and nuclear sectors. The advantage of this in-depth experience is included in the design of the stainless steel POWERAM linear actuators.

At launch the POWERAM linear actuator range is available in machine screw, stainless-steel and ball screw designs, each in five sizes with nominal capacity ratings of 10 kN, 25 kN, 50 kN, 100 kN and 200 kN. All have a full range of end fittings, drives and feedback devices as part of their modular building system so the machine designer can select the best configuration for their application.
