New Motor Driver from Allegro MicroSystems

The new A1441 low voltage, full bridge brushless DC motor driver from Allegro Microsystems includes hall commutation, active breaking and micropower sleep mode. According to the company’s press release, the driver is designed to drive single pass, low voltage bipolar brushless DC motors. Commutation of the motor is achieved through use of a single hall element to detect the position of an alternating pole ring magnet. Allegro’s IC semiconductor process allows for the integration of the Hall element on the same IC as the motor control circuitry, providing a single chip solution
