Large Boring Tool Modular System Reduces Weight by Half

The CKN modular connection from Big Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. provides a high-strength tool connection for large boring tools that use both steel and lightweight aluminum components. The CKN connection has a three-screw interface between steel double-connector couplings and aluminum extensions, so when tightened, the slotted male connector expands for extra rigidity.

The system reduces weight up to 50 percent with cutting performance equal to tool combinations made only from steel. For many applications, this eliminates manual tool changes. The CKN connection is compatible with most existing Kaiser KAB systems, so existing Kaiser modular components can be integrated for lower torque operations, like finish boring.
