Ikona Gear Receives Technology Innovation Award

Ikona Gear received the 2005 Technology Innovation Award from Frost & Sullivan at the Excellence in Emerging Technologies Banquet. The award was given specifically for its gearing technology platform as it applies to high-temperature planetary and winch-based gears. ?The Ikona gear design is more rigid, has a higher contract ratio than standard planetary gear designs and has lower friction as the gear rolls through its contact range rather than sliding with friction,? says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Michael Valenti. ?This solves some of the major problems with plastics being used in gearing today.?
