Bonfiglioli Showcases Smart Integrated Automation at SPS Italia 2026

This week at SPS Italia, Bonfiglioli presents its full mechatronics ecosystem, integrating gearmotors, inverters, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and advanced automation software tools. The spotlight is on the Axia drive family, followed by dedicated solutions for shuttles, AGVs and AMRs, the Bonfiglioli Automation Manager portfolio, and a range of mechatronic systems for roller conveyors, palletizers, flowpack systems, compact warehouse elevators and material handling applications.

Axia Family: smart drives for smarter automation 
Officially presented in Italy at SPS, the new Axia drive family, i.e. AxiaVert and AxiaAgile. The former is tailored for high-performance and complex systems, featuring a modular design, comprehensive functional safety options and advanced motion control capabilities. The latter offers a compact and cost-efficient alternative for general-purpose uses. Built on a variant-based concept, AxiaAgile is engineered to address diverse application requirements, providing dedicated configurations that streamline product selection and significantly reduce engineering time. At SPS Italia, AxiaVert and AxiaAgile are showcased as a demo coupled with three different gearbox/gearmotor and motor variants. A special focus will be on the advanced integrated functional safety features of AxiaVert.

High-precision motion solutions for mobile robotics 
In the field of mobile robotics, Bonfiglioli showcases two customized versions of the BlueRoll platform, the solution specifically developed for shuttles, AGVs and AMRs. BlueRoll is available in three configurations – Basic, Advanced and Compact – and thanks to its modular design and full customization, it reduces complexity while ensuring position accuracy, maximum power density and energy efficiency. Each configuration is developed in order to effectively suit the specific application’s needs, and it can provide a single component (servomotor or precision planetary gearbox) or the integrated geared motor solution. At SPS Italia, BlueRoll features a compact low voltage precision planetary servo gear motor compatible with electronic drives with 24 or 48-volt batteries and it therefore represents the ideal solution for easy installation and retrofit.

Advanced mechatronic systems for smart intralogistics
At SPS Italia, a dedicated area is focused on the logistics/intralogistics sector, featuring a selection of mechatronic systems. For palletizers, flowpack packaging processes and compact warehouse elevators, the flagship product is the synchronous servomotor of the BMD Series. Available in three different solutions, it is coupled with three different gearboxes - the precision planetary gearbox of TQ Series, the helical bevel gearbox of the A Series and the helical parallel-shaft of the F Series – and AxiaVert. For intralogistics processes, more specifically rolling conveyors, the solution presented at SPS combines the EVOX CP coaxial gearbox, with a modular, reliable and energy efficient asynchronous MXN electric motor and the AxiaVert drive. Finally, for smart conveyors, a helical bevel gearbox from the A Series is showcased coupled with a synchronous reluctance BSR motor and a sensorized decentralized DGM inverter (pictured above). 

Selcom: advanced electronic and mechatronic solutions for industrial applications
As part of the Bonfiglioli Group, Selcom is showcasing its custom electronic solutions, with a broad portfolio of high-performance mechatronic and system integration technologies. Each solution highlights the company’s strong focus on advanced standards and tailor-made engineering. The range on display includes PLCs, sensors, TFT touchscreens, DC-DC converters for battery-powered systems, inverters and an induction welding generator, underlining Selcom’s versatility and customer-driven approach. At the forefront is Selcom’s new Industrial PC, featuring seven GBIT Ethernet ports designed to manage up to six separate networks, along with a dedicated commissioning port. Integrated IIoT platform for Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance
Bonfiglioli tackles major challenges in industrial machinery, such as downtime and high maintenance costs, by providing the IIoT platform which includes Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance. The IoT platform presented at SPS utilizes dedicated sensors to monitor gearboxes and motors, collecting vital performance and energy data. These sensors  combine accelerometer, magnetometer and temperature functions, and wirelessly transmit external data. Paired with an IE3 asynchronous MXN electric motor and a CP coaxial gear unit from the EVOX platform, these components ensure high efficiency and flexibility.

A complete software ecosystem for automation and efficiency
A special focus is given to Bonfiglioli’s Automation Manager, a comprehensive software suite that brings together all digital tools into a single ecosystem, ensuring full integration across the entire product portfolio and along every phase of the machine lifecycle. Automation Manager includes two main areas: Electronic Management tools and Software Tools. The Electronic Management suite supports commissioning, monitoring and diagnostics, and features AxiaManager, dedicated to the configuration and management of Axia Family inverters, enabling easy parameter setting, performance monitoring and diagnostics throughout operation. It also includes the IoT Manager, which oversees the company’s IoT architecture, allowing users to configure connected devices, deploy firmware, monitor field data and manage system parameters. The Software Tools, on the other hand, are designed to support product selection and optimization.
