Zero-Max ISO Adaptor Mount and Hub Options for CD Power-Series Shaft Couplings Provide Design Flexibility
Zero-Max offers an ISO Flange Adaptor in its new CD Power-Series Flexible Shaft Couplings, along with a variety of options for the opposing hub of the coupling. The ISO Adaptor Mount Flange is compatible with ISO 9409-1 mounting patterns commonly used on precision gear reducers, specialized motors, actuators, and robotic equipment.
Precision gear reducers with an ISO Flange output configuration are built for high demand and high-performance applications, and the design and direct connection of the Zero-Max ISO Adaptor Mount Hub maintains the high torsional stiffness and positioning accuracy for the driven components in the system. This direct connection also makes for a more compact solution, providing smaller dimensions and savings on both weight and inertia in the system.
Some manufactures opt to make their own shaft adaptor to serve as a transition piece from the ISO flange bolt pattern of the gearbox to connect to a traditional shaft coupling hub bore. However, these shaft adaptors introduce an added component and typically weaken the overall torsional stiffness of the system. This leads to a performance compromise that can be avoided.
Some precision gear reducers include a locating pin feature in the ISO mounting flange to maintain angular orientation of the components, if ever taken apart for service. For gear reducers having the locating pin feature, it may or may not be utilized in the actual application. In applications that require the use of the ISO 9409-1 locating pin feature, Zero-Max can add that feature to the Adaptor Mount option for the CD Power-Series upon request.
In addition to the ISO Flange Adaptors, the CD Power-Series Couplings are available with additional hub options, which provide design and mounting flexibility as needed for individual applications. These hub options include a Two-piece Split Clamp Hub, a One-piece Integral Clamp Hub, Non-ISO Flange Mounts, and Integrated Shrink Disc Hubs. “These options provide design flexibility and can be interchanged for a variety of configurations in order to meet the needs of virtually any application,” reports Scott Boersma, director of sales and marketing at Zero-Max.
