Steinmeyer Introduces New Low Profile Stage

Steinmeyer Inc. announced a new single-axis precision positioning stage model PMT160–DC.

Available in five sizes and strokes ranging from 50-300 mm, this table offers a low profile design with an overall height of 40 mm. Total travel is 50-300 mm in each direction with straightness/flatness deviation from 0.5-4 micron, based on the model chosen.  According to the company's press release, the design includes drive mechanisms, a precision preloaded miniature ball screw coupled to a DC motor with rotary encoder.

Manufactured from high strength anodized aluminum, table weights vary from just 3.7–6.5 kg and can handle loads of up to 200 Newtons. It offers a positional accuracy of 10 -20 µm and repeatability of 0.5 µm.  Speeds up to 50 mm/s and accelerations of 0.5 m/s² are easily achieved.

The standard stage includes backlash-free preloaded cross roller bearings for precise linear guidance and a 140 mm square top with a pre-drilled mounting hole pattern for bolting to the stage. This unit can also be configured in an XY assembly without the use of an adapter plate. Several options are also available for this model including different hole mounting patterns, integrated servoamplifier, vacuum and cleanroom compatibility and an electromagnetic brake for the vertical axis.
