Regal Releases New Product Selection Tool on Website

Regal Beloit Corporation, a manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announced it has released a product selection tool that simplifies online motor selection. With the new tool, thousands of motors can be narrowed to fewer than a dozen in a matter of seconds based on the customer’s needs.

The Marathon motors website, launched in 2017, incorporates a more robust product evaluation experience and continues to evolve to meet the most sought-after features requested by customers.

“Another key dimension of the product is the speed at which the page is rendered, which required tuning the interface to the backend database,” said Praveen Deshpande, IT director, Regal Beloit America, Inc. “Our mobile first website development strategy meant that we had to take into consideration devices of various screen sizes.”

The digital product information is stored in a product information management (PIM) system, which functions as a repository for data that is used on the site or made available to channel partners. The tool is currently available for North American Marathon motor products with plans to expand to other brands in the future.

“When we set out in our early design sessions, our single-minded objective was to enhance the user experience by reducing the time needed to get to a motor meeting a user’s requirements,” said Jennifer Mitchell, manager of digital customer experience, Regal Beloit America, Inc. “The intuitive nature of the interface makes it possible to reach an end item more quickly than many conventional industrial B2B websites.”
