PI Unveils Compact Linear Motor Actuator

PI (Physik Instrumente), a manufacturer of nanopositioning and piezo-based motion control equipment, recently introduced the N-310 NEXACT miniature ceramic linear motor actuator. According to the company’s press release, this self-locking, compact actuator can eliminate backlash and wear thanks to piezo-stepping elements that affect linear motion directly without the need to transform rotation with gears and lead screws.

At 1/2 cubic inch and 50 g, the N-310 NEXACT is smaller than previous NEXACT models, and provides piezo-class resolution and millisecond responsiveness. Typical applications include laser tuning, nanotechnology, nano-imprint, nano-manipulation and bio-technology.
