Ontario Drive & Gear Acquires Groupe Trudo and Engrenax Hydraulix

Ontario Drive & Gear (ODG) recently announced the acquisition of Groupe Trudo Inc. and Engrenax Hydraulix Inc.

Groupe Trudo Inc. (Trudo) in Richmond and Engrenax Hydraulix Inc. in Granby both operate in Quebec, the combined facilities total 100,000 square feet. The companies have many long-standing OEM customers in the agricultural and construction markets. The acquisition furthers ODG’s gear manufacturing capabilities and gives the company expertise in bevel gears, spline rolling, heat treating and forging.  The acquisition will also facilitate growth in custom gearbox solutions.

ODG plans to bring its management and operating systems to the recently acquired companies which will give it complete vertical integration in the manufacturing process of a variety of specialized gear products. The company intends to maintain full operations at both Quebec plants, in addition to preserving all relationships with Groupe Trudo and Engrenax’s existing customers, suppliers, and employees.

Joel Wright, ODG, Gear Division president, commented: “The acquisition of Groupe Trudo and Engrenax adds key manufacturing capabilities and capacity as we seek to maintain our growth trajectory within the precision gearing space. Taken together we now have over a century’s worth of gear manufacturing experience and are confident that this expansion will create significant synergies. We look forward continuing to build on our reputation of delivering best-in-class solutions and superior gear products which our Tier 1 customers have come to expect.”
