R+W Coupling Technology recently released a new and updated version of its “Safety and Overload Couplings” educational handbook, which now includes the heavy-duty ST torque limiter series. These ST torque limiters are designed for industrial drive applications with potential for overload, offering disengagement torques from anywhere between 200 and 165,000 Nm.

This handbook covers all aspects of spring loaded ball detent safety couplings including functional principles, construction, selection criteria and recommended fields of application. With the added ST series, and consideration of additional special designs, R+W now offers couplings with disengagement torques from less than 0.1 Nm  to over 500,000 Nm.
