New Fluid Coupling from Voith Turbo

The new TurboSyn friction turbo coupling from Voith Turbo is designed for the operation of mills. The basic design of the TurboSyn is similar to that of a standard Voith fluid coupling. According to the company’s press release, its inner wheel consists of pivoting segments that are attached to the hub in a rotary fashion. When a certain speed has been achieved, the segments swivel radially to the outside and create a friction connection between the coupling shell and the inner wheel. As a result, the differing speeds of the outer and inner part are synchronized and a direct connection between input and output is realized. In addition, this coupling’s does not require a control system to protect against overload. Size remains unchanged and the components correspond to that of a standard coupling.
