New Cooling Method from Engis

The megasonic cooling system from Engis Corp. utilizes ultrasonic cooling to reduce coolant consumption, increase removal efficiency, extend grinding wheel life and enhance surface characteristics. According to the company?s press release, this system?s rotating grinding wheel breaks the air barrier that reduces the amount of coolant that actually reaches the cutting face. The method also uses an accelerated and focused coolant stream produced by a vibration transducer that is placed in the nozzle. This method can be applicable to grinding of hard materials and comes with an optional front nozzle that faces the grinding wheel.
