NEMA Index Slips in June

NEMA's Electroindustry Business Confidence Index (EBCI) for current North American conditions slipped to 52.4 in June from 54.2 in May and has retreated more than 20 points since reaching a post-recession high in February. Despite its recent slide, the index continues to point to an economic environment conducive to industry growth, as it has for each of the last nine months. The EBCI for future North American conditions also moved lower in June, falling nearly 14 points to 57.1. One-third of panelists - down from just over half the previous month - said they expect conditions to improve to at least some degree over the next six months.
