Malinowski Awarded IEEE Fellowship

John Malinowski of Fort Smith, Arkansas was honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) by receiving its Fellow award. He received the award at the annual IEEE Petroleum and Chemical Industry Conference in Vancouver. Malinowski was presented the award by Dr. Wei-Jen Lee, IEEE Industry Application Society president-elect. The award was presented based on “contributions to motor efficiency manufacturing regulations and standards” which Malinowski was a national contributor and advocate of increasing motor efficiency standards in the industrial manufacturing sector for several decades. Of the 33,000 IEEE Industry Application Society members, only 15 were elevated to the Fellow level in 2019.

Malinowski retired in 2017 from ABB after 35 years, last serving as senior manager of industry affairs. He was a two-term Motor and Generator Section Chairman for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the trade association for the electric motor industry. He presently resides in Fort Smith, Arkansas and is an industrial motor consultant.
