Gleason Opens Advanced Manufacturing and Technology Facility in Bangalore

On August 17th and 18th, 2017, Gleason hosted more than 150 customers and business partners for the grand opening of its new 65,000 square foot facility in Aerospace Park, Devanahalli, Bangalore, India.  The two day event included a grand opening celebration including a ribbon cutting ceremony and remarks by company executives.  This was followed by several product demonstrations among which was the introduction of a new gear finishing cell including a gear hobbing machine and gear shaving machine produced locally by the Gleason India Team. The event concluded with an extensive gear technology education program covering a broad range of topics on bevel and cylindrical gear design and manufacturing, gear metrology and the company’s digital manufacturing solutions.

Gleason’s first production facility in Bangalore was established in 1996.  Since then, Gleason’s presence in India has grown, keeping pace with the country’s remarkable industrial growth.  This modern, larger and climate-controlled facility will allow Gleason to provide a wider range of high precision products produced in India for both local and global customers.

John J. Perrotti, Gleason president and chief executive officer, said “The investment in this new facility makes an important statement about our belief in the Indian market and its growth potential, but most importantly it is recognition of our confidence in our Gleason Team in India to serve our customers at the highest level.”

Products produced at the new Bangalore facility include the Genesis Series Gear Hobbing Machines, the new 200SVP Gear Shaving Machine, remanufacturing of a wide range of Gleason Machines, design and production of certain bevel gear cutting tools and gear shaving cutters as well as sharpening services for bevel and cylindrical gear cutting tools, workholding products and an array of training programs, spare parts, customized service programs and technical support.
