Epic Launches STEM Education Initiative

A local St. Louis engineering firm has launched a new STEM Education initiative for elementary school aged children.Epic Systems, Inc., has created a hands-on workshop for kids on April 30th to cultivate interest in engineering and STEM fields sooner. Epic is a local engineering and fabrication firm that designs turnkey automated systems for manufactures. They see the need in the U.S. for our brightest young minds to study engineering, and want to give back to the community.

“Our company thrives on intelligent, capable engineers who love what they do. We want to help create that excitement for kids early on, so that they end up as the next generation of smart engineers,” says John Schott, president.

To launch the effort, Epic worked with children of employees to make “mini-engineers” tutorial videos for at-home experiments related to the modular process systems the company designs. These tutorials, along with downloadable supply lists, instructions and links to other fun STEM experiments can be found at the website below.

Epic plans to hold a half-day workshop on April 30th at their fabrication plant which includes hands-on activities that teach engineering concepts. The opportunity to earn an engineering badge for area Boy Scouts troops will be included in the workshop. For further details about the event, please visit the mini-engineering event webpage, or register with the Boy Scouts.
