David Brown Santasalo Completes Winch Drum Rebuild

David Brown Santasalo Australia recently completed a full strip and rebuild of a Zollern ZHP 4.33 Rope Winch Drum for valued mining industry partner, Zollern. The 7,550 kg Winch Drum powers a coal loader, with an output torque of 400 kNm (Stat Max) and an input torque of 893 Nm.

As a service agent for Zollern, DBS has built experience and expertise of their range of winches. Whilst carrying out this rebuild project; they were pleased to have the additional assistance of one of Zollern’s service engineers based in Germany to ensure the deadline was met. The rebuild included the replacement of all OEM bearings, seals, O-rings and both brake assemblies, along with rigorous testing on a 1 MW test bed.

The standard shutdown routine allowed a DBS team of experts to run shifts around the clock to meet the customer's stringent timeframe, impressively minimizing their downtime to only four days. As a result, the Rope Winch Drum was rebuilt and delivered to the highest of standards.

David Brown Santasalo has been a proud partner of the Zollern Group since June 2020.
