For gear and driveline components, Surface offers atmosphere, vacuum, and plasma (ion) furnaces. Controlled atmosphere furnaces include Allcase® batch integral quench furnaces and continuous pusher tray type or roller hearth furnaces. Vacuum furnaces include high pressure gas quench or oil quench options in single to multi-chamber designs with low pressure carburizing (LPC). Low distortion options include optimized oil quenching, press-quench integration, low temperature plasma and gas nitriding or ferritic nitrocarburizing (FNC), and high-pressure gas quench systems. For forged gear blanks and rolled rings Surface offers normalizing and re-heat furnaces including mesh belt or cast belt, batch, and rotary hearth furnaces.
