Dr.-Ing. Stefan Schumann studied mechanical engineering at TU Dresden from 2005 to 2011. He then began working as a research assistant at the Chair of Machine Elements (Prof.  Schlecht) with a focus on bevel gears. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering focusing on asymmetric bevel gears at TU Dresden in 2015. In 2017, he became a senior engineer at the Chair of Mechanical Elements with the main field of work being load-bearing capacity.
