Pack Expo Preview: Kollmorgen

Kollmorgen will be exhibiting at Pack Expo, September 25 – 27, 2017, in Las Vegas, NV. In addition to the company’s industry-leading motion technology and latest product enhancements, visitors to Booth C-1751 can expect to see Kollmorgen’s new AKD2G servo drives.

Getting started is easy with the AKD2G’s plug-and-play compatibility to Kollmorgen motors and Workbench interface. Physical connections to the drive have been made simple. The hybrid connector is optimized for single cable motors and the I/O cage-clamp terminal enables connections to be made in a snap. The AKD2G eliminates the need for additional hardware by optically isolating the I/O to reduce noise.

The AKD2G is fast, introducing a multicore Compute Engine – Servo on a Chip – that is more powerful than other servo drives. This new design accommodates changing load conditions immediately with a rapid current loop update rate of 1.28 µs. Velocity and position loops updates are also market leading at 62.5 µs and 250 µs.

With its modular design, the AKD2G is flexible and able to meet the needs of nearly any application with a solution that feels custom made by allowing the user to specify features that uniquely fit the machine design. Multiple bus choices are available for system optimization, including EtherCAT & FSoE, and CANopen. Safety can be incorporated into the drive as well with the optional Safe Motion Monitor (SMM). The flexibility offered in the AKD2G enables a user to easily select the drive that is right for their machine.

Kollmorgen experts will be available throughout the show at Booth C-1751. Attendees who would like to schedule time in advance to discuss specific application needs may contact Bill Sutton at the email below.
