SPI's Flexible Film and Bag Division Welcomes Three New Board Members

September 22, 2015
SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association’s Flexible Film and Bag Division (FFBD) recently announced the election of three new board members Friday. Following a 30-day ballot period during which all members of the FFBD could vote, the FFBD Executive Board welcomed Jason Keiswetter, director of marketing at Petoskey Plastics, Mike Moran, North American director of sales for the Dow Chemical Company’s Performance Plastics Business and David Nunes, president of Hosokawa Alpine American as its newest members.

Each of the three new board members will serve a two-year term on the Executive Board, which directs the activities of the FFBD, an SPI member division consisting of company representatives from the resin, machinery and processor segments of the plastics industry engaged in the manufacture of flexible film and bags.

“The FFBD is one of SPI’s most dynamic membership divisions, hosting the annual North American Flexible Film and Bag Conference and serving as an important venue for companies that manufacture flexible plastic film and bags to exchange knowledge, coordinate advocacy efforts and make new business connections. The issues facing this vital segment of the plastics industry are constantly changing, and so it’s important to bring in fresh perspectives and new leadership to ensure that SPI and the FFBD are doing everything in their power to ensure the growth of our industry,” said SPI Senior Vice President, Industry Affairs Patty Long. “As such we believe the addition of Jason Keiswetter, Mike Moran and David Nunes to the FFBD Executive Board will greatly strengthen the division with the diversity of their backgrounds and their commitment to the plastics industry. The entire SPI family congratulates them on their election and looks forward to growing from the benefit of their insights.”

Keiswetter grew up in the plastics industry within the business owned and operated by his father, Paul Keiswetter, a fellow FFBD member representative. Over the last 15 years he has worked in multiple sales divisions, assuming leadership roles before being promoted to his current position at Petoskey Plastics, a manufacturer of blown plastic film and bags, in 2014. In his role as director of marketing, Keiswetter leads several key cross-functional teams focused on product development and marketing activities. He holds a master’s of business administration from Michigan State University and lives in Petoskey, Michigan with his wife, Erika, and their two sons.

Moran is responsible for all polyethylene sales for Dow Chemical’s customer base in the rigid and flexible packaging markets. He joined Dow in 1983 as a production and research engineer in the company’s Midland, Michigan location. Since then, he has held positions in sales, technical service and market and product management. He currently resides in Atlanta and works out of the Southeast Regional Sales Hub located in Marietta, Georgia. Moran also serves on the board of directors for the Alliance for Polyethylene Pipe and SPI’s Rigid Plastics Packaging Group. He has a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Virginia and a chemistry and business degree from High Point University in North Carolina.

Nunes is responsible for the North American market for Hosokawa Alpine, a supplier of blow film extrusion systems. He has been with Alpine since 1987, first as sales engineer and later as a sales manager. Prior to that, Nunes worked as a sales engineer for International Seal and Packaging in Princeton, New Jersey (1985-1987) and for Disogrin Industries (1981-1985). He received his Bachelor of Science degree in plastics engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell and is a member of SPI, he Flexible Packaging Association and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).
