Velo3D, Inc. has announced Hermeus, a company developing hypersonic aircraft for defense and commercial applications, has acquired an original Sapphire and a large-format Sapphire XC that is designed for high-volume production. The printers, both of which will be calibrated for Inconel 718, will be used to build parts for Hermeus’ Chimera engine and Quarterhorse aircraft.
Velo3D, Inc. and Hartech Group, an advanced technology equipment supplier for the U.S. federal government, announced a partnership to distribute Velo3D’s technology to government agencies, including the Department of Defense. The partnership makes Hartech Group a preferred distributor for the federal government for Velo3D. This is the first Sapphire printer to be located at Pratt & Whitney; it previously utilized Velo3D’s contract manufacturer network to produce printed and finished parts.
