June 5, 2019—
There is more efficiency available for hybrid and electric drives thanks to an innovative switching element from Hoerbiger: The TorqueLINE Twin Cone reduces up to 90 percent tow losses and saves up to 25 percent resources and weight. These advantages were also impressed by the expert jury of the German Innovation Award. They presented Hoerbiger with the Gold Award in the category "E-Mobility Technologies" at the award ceremony on May 28 in Berlin.

In total, the German Innovation Award recorded 695 submissions across industries in 40 categories this year. The best products and solutions received an award from the jury of experts for their special innovation performance, with the Hoerbiger TorqueLINE Twin Cone. At the award ceremony, Andreas Dempfle and Jürgen Binder, who were instrumental in the development of innovation, were presented with the highest of all awards.

The TorqueLINE Twin Cone replaces classic slatted clutches and is significantly more efficient than standard clutch systems. "Hoerbiger's new switching element reduces towing losses by up to 90 percent, which reduces the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the vehicle, "emphasizes Dempfle. "In addition, the system requires up to 60 percent less updating staff."

Thanks to its compact design, the TorqueLINE Twin Cone helps to save resources: Up to 25 percent less steel is needed for production, making the system a quarter lighter than classic slatted couplings.

"Despite the innovative design, the Twin Cone is simply compatible. Manufacturers can replace their classic slatted clutch system without costly adjustments, "explains Binder. "The Twin Cone has the same dimensions and interfaces of a standard clutch system. The updating and the way the system is spoilated can also be taken over. "

The TorqueLINE Twin Cone is suitable for use in hybrid and electric drives – a market that is growing strongly. Thanks to the high efficiency increase and the positive contribution in reducing material, weight, consumption and emissions, the system helps manufacturers to respond to the increasing demands of future mobility.
