Automate/Promat: Live From the Show

April 4, 2017
Automate 2017 offers the full spectrum of automation technologies and solutions, from traditional industrial applications to cutting edge new technologies. ProMat 2017 is co-located with Automate and provides attendees access to the latest material handling and logistics equipment and technologies. If you’re attending the show in Chicago this week, here are a few products and technologies PTE readers will be interested in learning more about:

SEW Eurodrive (Promat Booth #S423)

SEW

SEW Eurodrive has details about its new Complete Drive Service (CDS) platform. This is a mix of customizable modules that let you choose the drive maintenance and management services that fit your needs. This includes areas such as inspection, application programming, spare parts, retrofits, express assembly, industrial gear unit service and more. In addition, the company has the latest on its MOVI-C modular automation system, an all-in-one solution for automation control that provides engineering software, controllers, inverter technology and drive technology in a single package.  (seweurodrive.com)

R+W Coupling Technology (Booth #968)

SLN_Drehmomenteinstellung_frei

R+W is demonstrating the benefits of using mechanical overload protection in a high-performance servo drive application. The SK and SL series torque limiters can disengage the driveline within 2-4 milliseconds of a torque spike resulting from unintended blockage and overload, potentially preventing critical damage to expensive equipment. The latter, SL series, features a special compact and low inertia design for cutting edge automation requirements. R+W safety couplings come in both direct (shaft-to-shaft) and indirect (shaft-to-pulley) mounting options to be used in almost any application where mechanical overloads may occur. Much of the SL series is available in stock in Illinois to reduce delivery from several weeks to just a few days in case of an emergency requirement. Stop by the R+W booth to find out more about modern torque limiter technology and how it might be useful for your applications. (www.rw-america.com)

Allied Motion (Booth #2250)

Allied Motion is displaying its robot joint actuator technology at Automate. This joint product from Allied and Nabtesco consists of a Nabtesco RV25-N cycloidal gearhead adapted directly to an Allied Motion HeiMotion HMD08 brushless servo motor equipped with an integrated holding brake and a Hiperface DSL encoder. The gearhead provides high gear reduction while minimizing space while the servo motor can be tailored specifically to the application. While this has been engineered to power the joints in articulated robots, it is also applicable in robot joint drives, rotary tables, indexing tables, material handling vehicles, packaging machines, textile equipment and printing machinery. Tolomatic (Booth #556)

tolomatic

Tolomatic is displaying the RSX096, an extreme force, hydraulic class electric actuator. This actuator is designed for rugged service, long life and is a suitable choice to replace hydraulic cylinders.  The RSX096 offers roller screws with a high positional accuracy of +0.0004”/ft. (+0.0102 mm/300 mm). Steel thrust tubes supports high force capabilities and the anti-rotate feature prevents the rod from rotating. Applications include automatic tool changers, automotive, machine tools, motion simulators, tension control, wave generation and many more. (www.tolomatic.com)
