December 27, 2007

WEG Electric Motors Ltd. is providing the drive for all its mill facilities in an ecological project (VERCEL) to produce eucalyptus pulp in South America. In a joint venture between Aracuz Celulose and Stora Enso that includes a private forest reserve and pulp mill, WEG is supplying the necessary range of electric motors and control gear for the operation.

According to the company’s press release, the VERCEL project boasts one of the world’s most advanced technological and environmental procedures in mills. WEG has been involved with the project since its inception, supplying motors for fiberline digesters, causticing plant, line kilns, fiberline bleaching, fiberline brownstock, drying machines evaporation, water treatment and wastewater treatment. These motors reduce energy use for all milling activities.
