New Brake for Gearless Drives

February 3, 2006
Ortlinghaus has introduced the DIMO braking system for gearless applications. The brake is electromagnetically actuated. According to the company’s press release, the DIMO brake offers a low noise operation, a multiply-redundant braking torch, and a compact construction. In addition, this brake holds loads statically and backlash-free. To a certain extent, it can take on dynamic braking applications. In the de-energized condition, the braking system is effective. Other benefits include integration into interfacing parts, holding of a load with zero backlash, bearing point integratable into the brake, hydraulic force transmissin by hand lever, monitoring contacts for monitoring the switch position and the degree of wear and power saving circuit.
