Custom Gear & Machine, Inc. - "The Gear Specialists" Custom Gear, based in Rockford, Illinois, is a state-of-the-art gear and machining job shop. We are committed to staying ahead of our industry by utilizing the best equipment possible. We specialize in ground helical and spur gears using the newest technology in gear grinding. Our machinery includes a new Höfler 400, single tooth gear grinder, a Reishauer 301-AS CNC; a Reishauer 300E and a Reishauer ZB which provides the ability to grind up to a 27” diameter. We also can hob, shape, shave, cut racks, broach and cut keyways. Additional capabilities include CNC turning, CNC machining, milling, ID/OD grinding and surface grinding. We have a K&T Milwaukeematic 800 CNC horizontal 2 pallet-machining center that is capable of machining a housing or parts up to 33” square by 57” in height. Gear analysis is performed on our Höfler CNC gear inspection machine. Custom Gear specializes in lot sizes from one to thousands of pieces.
