Manufacturer/Designer of Precision Power Transmission Equipment

Principal Products: Worm Gearing, Worm Gear Speed Reducers, and Custom Enclosed Gear Drives.

Background: Cleveland Gear was founded in 1912 and became an IMC company in 1980. It is an industry leader in the design and production of high-quality worm gearing, worm gear speed reducers and custom enclosed gear drives. Cleveland Gear's history of innovation and quality includes the introduction in 1918 of the first standard industrial line of worm gear speed reducers. This led the American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) to adopt the product line as its standard.

Facilities and Capabilities: The company's facility in Cleveland, Ohio, occupies 150,000 square feet of manufacturing and office space. Since its inception, Cleveland Gear's watchwords have been quality production and guaranteed reliability. It designs and produces its worm gear tooling and maintains over 1,500 hobs in stock. Utilizing its Master Worm System, it can replace either component of a gear set, thus providing customers a perfect match without the expense of replacing an entire set. Over the years, Cleveland Gear has continued its investment in flexible manufacturing cells that give it the ability to provide fast response and superior quality and service to its customers.

Cleveland manufactures worm gear sets from 3-inch to 54-inch center distances, including dual lead designs. Its speed reducers range in size from 1.3-inch to 36-inch center distances. They are available in single reductions from 5:1 to 100:1 ratios, in double and triple reductions in both worm and helical worm designs and with output torques as high as two million inch-pounds. Cleveland offers the broadest range of standard products in the industry. It also specializes in the design and manufacture of custom worm drives.

Cleveland Gear has expanded the range of its pre-engineered and custom designed products by adding helical and bevel helical enclosed drives. These drives are available in single through quadruple reductions providing up to four million inch-pounds of output torque. Its REDI II pre-engineered drives offer a modular housing design. Cleveland works closely with its customers to ensure its designs provide the most economical product for their power transmission needs. Cleveland is ISO 9001 certified. For over ninety years, its products have earned a well-deserved reputation for trouble-free service in a variety of critical industrial applications.
